The Fridge

I have a huge fridge in my kitchen, Mom bought it in 1986 I think, although it is quite old, it still kept everything fresh without trouble, these days freezers don’t come in these sizes no more, great capacity, even mom couldn’t remember what was inside sometimes.One evening, my best friend Linda came by to visit me, we had not seen each other since graduation last year, so I made her stay for the night, to catch up with the old days. We chatted till two o’clock in the morning, when we finally decided to sleep. Linda said she was thirsty, so she went downstairs to the kitchen to get some water, a minutes later I heard her talking to someone downstairs, I was surprised as Mom and Dad, should be in bed by now, therefore, who is she talking to? As I was wondering, I heard a loud cry from Linda downstairs, so I got out of bed and hurried down to her rescue, but, as I got there Linda was already in her car and drove off, the kitchen lights were on, and Mom with her head stuck in the freezer, was standing there trying to find something, so I asked her what happened had happened and she murmured: “I think she is out of her head….” I didn’t get what she was saying as I was confused with what had happened between them, but when I turn around to ask Mom about it again, there was not anyone there, so I went back upstairs and as I passed by my parent’s room I saw Mom already in bed, I didn’t want to wake her so returned to my room very confused, because my Mom don’t usually act this way, but I was too tired and gradually fell a sleep. After that night Linda never called me, so, I gave her a call a day later to see how she was, and she told me what she saw that night, she said:” When I went downstairs to the kitchen, I saw your Mom digging inside the freezer trying to find something, as I offered to help, she replied in a squeaky voice: ”That’s not necessary, my love, here it is, I found it !” leaning out of the freezer with a bag in her hand, I suddenly realized it wasn’t your mom and when I saw the object in the bag, which was a human head, I freaked out and ran….” I could hear her shivering even over the phone line. After the conversation, I searched the freezer thoroughly, but didn’t find any head in there, I told Mom about Linda’s story and what I saw that night, but Mom thought it was a load of crap and accused us of drinking too much that night. Life went on, and three months passed without any hassle, Linda never called again since our last conversation, and I left the incident to the back of my head. Until one morning, while I was reading my newspaper at the breakfast table in the kitchen, I came across an article about a murder case that happened 3 months ago and the photograph of the victim was Linda!, she had been beheaded, with her body found in a park. DNA proofed her identity, but her head wasn’t ever found. As I was in great shock, my eyes turned and caught the freezer door opening gradually, a squeaky voice behind me said: “I wonder what’s inside....”

The Passenger

I am a taxi driver who lives in Hong Kong, I encountered something I could not believe nor explain. It was a summer weekend somewhere in July, when I was driving a passenger from Tsim ShaT Sui (Town Center) to Clearwater Bay, (New Territories)as he suddenly told me that he could tell if someone is going to have trouble by judging from his looks, so, being curious, I asked him if he could see anything wrong with me, and he said: “Well, I can see that you will encounter something horrific today, so, if you want my advice, I would go home after this trip and take no more passengers on your way back, or you might not see tomorrow” hearing such fate, I froze and was silent through out the whole trip, thinking that he was just one of those fortune tellers trying to do business. As we were approaching Clearwater Bay he asked me to keep the change and reminded me to take his advice.
So I decided to wrap up for the day and go home, as I was passing by the old Prison in Clearwater Bay, the weather changed drastically and rain came pouring down, from a distance stood a lady with her face covered in long streaks of hair completely soaked with rain, she was waving heavily at me in a rather rigid gesture, as I was wondering if I should stop the vehicle and let her in, I was a sec short in stepping on the brakes, causing the car to skid, passing her by a feet or so before it came to a halt. She then walked up and grabbed the handle to open the door. At that same moment, I got really worried because I still can’t see her face so instead I drove off, leaving her there standing in the rain, I watched her through my car mirror as her silhouette gradually faded into the distance, I felt pity for her, but, what else could I do, after all, it is just human nature to freak out, after remembering what that passenger told me earlier. Anyways, when I got back to the taxi station to turn in my car, the company manager came running out accusing me of wrecking his beloved vehicle. Being somewhat confused, I got off and checked the vehicle as I came round the side there were five long scratch marks, carved deeply into the metal, leading from the door handle to the rear end of the vehicle, and it looked if it was done by fingernails …
Not long after that, I went to see some psychic about the matter and he told me that the lady I saw was not human, but some evil creature disguised in human form, and I was lucky to escape my ill fate of being her prey…
